Coker Men’s Basketball Signs Samuels

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head men's basketball coach Dan Schmotzer has announced that Donte Samuels has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Cobras. Samuels will join the team beginning in the 2013-14 academic year.

"This is a great signing for us," Schmotzer said. "Donte fills an area that we needed to recruit and develop in terms of position. We're looking forward to being able to coach him."

Samuels is a 6-foot-5-inch forward from Rocky Mount Prep School in Rocky Mount, N.C. He is the school's all-time leader scorer with over 1,400 points and all-time leader in rebounds with over 650. Samuels was the first player in Rocky Mount Prep history to reached 1,000 points, a feat he accomplished as a junior. He is also a two-time all-area player and an all-state selection.

Samuels intends to study business administration at Coker. He is the son of Henry R. Harris Jr. and Semora Samuels-Harris.
