Coker Men Looking to Take Down the Crusaders

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra men's basketball team will host the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in their final regular season Conference Carolinas game of the season on Friday (March 1).  Live coverage of the game will be available online at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker will be looking close out the regular season on high note and avenge a 91-71 loss to Belmont Abbey back on Jan. 31. In their first meeting, Errick Bethel paced the Cobra offense with 16 points, while Andrew Morris added 14 and Julian Nelson chipped in 12.

Nelson continues to be the offensive leader for the Cobras. He is fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game. On the defensive side of the ball, Sharod Williams is one of the league leaders in rebounds, averaging 7.4 a game.

As Friday is the final regular season game of the season, Coach Dan Schmotzer and the Cobras will honor their graduating seniors; Marshall Cabbagestalk, Andrew Morris, Sharod Williams and Austin Harper with a special ceremony before tip-off.

The Crusaders (19-8, 12-7 Conf. Carolinas) are coming off a tough loss to Barton, 98-81. Tyshawn Good scored 35 points in the loss; he is the leading scorer in the conference, averaging just over 27 points per game.

The Cobras have secured their spot in the Conference Carolinas men's basketball tournament, which begins on Monday (March 4). However, their opponent is not yet known. The outcome of Friday's games will determine the final match-ups for the tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, following the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
