Coker's Sharod Williams Nominated for Dunk Contest

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College senior forward Sharod Williams has been nominated by Intersport for the "State Farm Dark Horse Dunker" competition. The winner will participate in the Denny's Slam Dunk Competition at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships in Atlanta during Final Four weekend April 4.

"I am very thankful and honored for the chance to participate in such a great event," Williams said. "More importantly, I am excited to represent Coker College and the Coker basketball program on a national level."

Sixteen dunkers have been selected to compete in the "State Farm Dark Horse Dunker" Facebook bracket, a five-week knockout competition. Williams, a 6-foot-3-inch forward, faces off against New Mexico State's Bandja Sy in round one.

Voting launches at noon on Monday and lasts two weeks, ending at 11:59 a.m. central time Feb. 25. At that time, the dunker with the most votes in each matchup will move to the second round. The dunker left standing at the end of the competition, which is March 18, will be invited to Final Four weekend in Atlanta for the College Slam Dunk contest on ESPN.
