Coker Comes Up Short Against Limestone, 62-60

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Julian Nelson scored a team high 23 points for the Cobras in their heartbreaking 62-60 loss to Limestone on Saturday (Jan. 12) afternoon. The loss is Coker's first at home this season, dropping their record to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in Conference Carolinas play.

After a disappointing first half, which found Coker down by 10 points, 33-23, the Cobras used a 21-11 run to tie the game at 44 with 11 minutes remaining in the second half. Over the next seven minutes Coker built a seven-point lead, 53-46, with just under five minutes left to play. The Cobras maintained the seven-point advantage until Limestone's PJ Foster knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the final two minutes of the game, including the eventual game winner with 14 seconds left on the clock.

The Cobras shot 44.8 percent from the field as a team, compared to the Saints 41.4 percent. Coker also held the advantage on points in the paint, 36-22, and points off the bench, 18-6.

Besides Nelson, the only other Cobra to score double digits was Eren Moses with 10 points and three rebounds off the bench. Sharod Williams added seven points and seven rebounds for Coker as well.

The Cobras will head back out on the road for their next game on Wednesday at Queens University of Charlotte. Tip-off for the Conference Carolinas game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Grady Cole Center following the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
