Coker Takes Down Mount Olive 83-73

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Behind a double-double performance by Sharod Williams, the Coker Cobras took down the Trojans of Mount Olive, 83-73 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday. The win improves the Cobras to 2-1 in league play.

Coker jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the game and never looked back. The Cobras never allowed the Trojans to take a lead or tie the game throughout the forty minutes of play. Coker out played Mount Olive in every aspect of the game, they hit 49.2 percent from the field compared to Mount Olive's 46.3 percent. The Cobras hit 73.7 percent from the charity stripe, while the Trojans hit 60.7 percent. The Cobras were glass cleaners on the boards with 44 total rebounds compared to just 29 boards for the Trojans.

Williams had the team high for points and rebounds, scoring 20 and pulling down 14, while Julian Nelson dropped 16 points with four assists. Andrew Morris added 12 points and six rebounds and Larry Felder chipped in 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

The victory marks the first time that Coker has defeated Mount Olive since Feb. 11, 2002, when the Cobras defeated the Trojans 64-62 at home.

Coker will return to the floor after a break for the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 29 at home against St. Andrews University.
