Morris Scores Career High 37 as Coker Tops FMU 95-76

FLORENCE, S.C. – Senior Andrew Morris rained down a career high 37 points in the Coker men's basketball team's 95-76 win over the Francis Marion Patriots on Sunday afternoon. The win gave the Cobras a 1-1 record in the 2012 Zaxby's Tip-Off Clazzic.

Led by Morris and his record setting 11 three-pointers, the Cobras hit 57 percent (36-of-63) from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc (14-of-28).  Julian Nelson scored 19 points with six rebounds and five assists, while Larry Felder had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sharod Williams netted 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Bryce Arnott handed out a career high 11 assists.

The opening 12 minutes of play were very close, as neither team seemed to gain an advantage. Then with eight minutes remaining in the first half, the Cobras mounted a 16-2 run to take the lead for good. With a 53-36 lead to start the second half, Coker held the high powered Patriot offense at bay for the remainder of the game winning 95-76.

Morris' record setting 11 three-pointers breaks the Coker record of nine three-pointers in a game held by Coker Hall of Famer Dennis Woolfolk. Coker's all-time leading scorer, Woolfolk hit nine three-pointers against Limestone College on Dec. 8, 1988.

Coker returns to the court on Saturday, Dec. 1 for a Conference Carolinas game at Lees-McRae College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
