Coker Unable to Stop Mount Olive

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker's Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) dropped a team high18 points in the Cobras' 70-64 loss to Mount Olive on Wednesday night. The Mount Olive Trojans were able to cling to a narrow lead in the second half, before opening the score up late in the half to defeat the Cobras.

The Cobras trailed 33-39 going into the half, shooting 35.5% from the floor. Nelson led the Cobras with nine points in the half and Coker out rebounded Mount Olive 16-15.

Trojan senior guard Derek Staton and junior Mahamed Ibrahim led Mount Olive with 12 points each.  Mount Olive shot 58.3% from the field during the first half and was also 6-for-12 from the three-point line. 

The second half was a close battle, but Mount Olive was able to pull away with some late points.  Staton piled on 11 more points for a total of 23, while senior Craig Hayes totaled 17 points on the night.  Ibrahim also ended the night with 17 points. 

Nelson finished the night with 18 total points for the Cobras, while Austin Harper (Chesnee, S.C.) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Sharod Williams (Miami, Fla.) was the game's leading rebounder with 12 boards and seven points.  

Coker's next game will be at North Greenville on Saturday, February 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Nelson led the Cobras with 18 points four rebounds and three assists.
