CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coker's Charles West (Ellenwood, Ga.) scored a career high 14 points in the Cobras 60-50 loss to the Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday night in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action.
The Cobras and Royals kept things close in the opening stanza of play with the Royals taking a narrow 27-24 lead into the intermission. Queens then turned on the offensive pressure in the second half, outscoring Coker 33-26 in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Cobras shot 33.3 percent from the floor, while the Royals hit 46.9 percent of their shots. Coker held the advantage on the glass with 40 rebounds to the Royals 37 boards.
West was the only Cobra with double digit points, while Sharod Williams (Miami, Fla.) and Jonathon Gardner (Florence, S.C.) each netted eight points and had five and four rebounds respectively.
