Second Half Rally Gives King 70-66 Win Over Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker's Jonathon Gardner (Florence, S.C.) scored a team high 13 points with four rebounds in the Cobra men's basketball team's 70-66 loss to King College on Saturday afternoon.

This Cobra/Tornado game was slated as a battle from the very beginning with King entering the game as the #1 team in NCAA Division II in three-point field goals (11.8/game) and Coker coming in as the #1 team in NCAA Division II in three-point field goal defense, allowing just 27 percent from three-point range. Coker held a sizeable lead at the intermission, 37-22, but the Tornado netted 48 second half points and held the Cobras to just 29, taking home a come from behind victory.

King held the advantage on field goal percentage 42.1 percent to Coker's 35.3 percent, while the Cobras held the lead on the boards, 38-35 and on free throw percentage 80.6 to 75 percent.

Along with Gardner, Eren Moses (New York, N.Y.) scored 10 points with nine rebounds and was the only other Cobra to score in double figures. Sharod Williams (Miami, Fla.) and Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) each scored nine points as well for Coker.

King's Brian Hewitt was the game's leading scorer with 34 points and eight rebounds, while Brandon Goss added 13 points.
