Bulldogs Top Cobras 75-63

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Junior Andrew Morris (Melbourne, Australia) scored a team high 18 points, including hitting 4-of-5 from long range in the Cobra men's basketball team's 75-63 loss to Barton College. The loss, Coker's second in a row, drops them to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas play, while Barton improves to 9-3 on the season and is 1-1 in the conference.

Barton took the lead early and held it throughout the first half, heading into the intermission with a 36-31 advantage. Coker did close out the half with a 5-0 run and then extended their run into the second half with another five unanswered points in the opening minute of the half, tying the game at 36.

After several minutes of back and forth play, the Cobras held their final lead of the game at 45-44 before the Bulldogs surged ahead with a 14-2 run, taking the lead for good.

Coker kept in striking distance by shooting 53-percent compared to 46-percent by the Bulldogs. 

Along with Morris, a trio of Cobras scored in double figures with junior Austin Harper (Chesnee, S.C.) scoring 12 points, sophomore Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) added 11 points and junior Sharod Williams (Miami, Fla.) had 10 points and eight rebounds. 

Gerald Boston led Barton with a game high 22 points, while Jaren Haley had 15 points and Jon Hart added 11 points.

The Cobras will return to action on Saturday on the road against Erskine College. The Conference Carolinas game tips-off at 4:00 p.m.
