Morris Leads Coker to 67-59 Wn in Season Opener Against Francis Marion

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Andrew Morris (Melbourne, Australia) scored a game high 21 points, including hitting 15 from beyond the arch in the Coker men's basketball team's season opening 67-59 win over local rival Francis Marion University on Friday night at the UNC Pembroke Holiday Classic.

Leading the Cobras along with Morris were fellow Aussie Bryce Arnott (Melbourne, Australia) and sophomore Julian Nelson (Irmo, S.C.) who each scored nine points for the Cobras. Arnott also handed out eight assists on the night.

FMU's Zamarius McLendon had the game's only double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Evrik Gray also scored 17 points for the Patriots. 

As a team the Cobras shot 43.8 percent from the floor, with the Patriots hitting just 27.6 percent of their shots from the field.

The Cobras will be back on the court for their second game of the UNCP Holiday Classic on Saturday at 4 p.m. against the host UNCP Braves.
