BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Coker men’s basketball team lost their fourth straight game of the season on Saturday afternoon, thanks to a 73-64 loss to Lees-McRae. The win is the first Conference Carolinas victory for the Bobcats, improving them to 2-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Cobras fall to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Coker’s Mason Ambler (Atlanta, Ga.) and Thomas Wright (Sydney, Australia) each had a game high 19 points, while Ambler picked up a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds in the game as well. Ricardo Smith (Darlington, S.C.) added eight points off the bench for the Cobras, while Liam Kyle (Cleveland, Ohio) and Ryan Aijan (Santa Barbara, Ca.) had seven and six points respectively.

Leading the Bobcats to victory were Josh Kurtz and Jeremy Helms with 11 points apiece, with Kurtz pulling down six rebounds. Twenty-nine of the Bobcats points came off the bench with Reshon Benjamin leading the bench scorers with nine points.

The Cobras outshot the Bobcats from the field, shooting 47.1 percent compared to LMC’s 40.7 percent, however the Bobcats were able to capitalize on 20 Coker turnovers to score 23 points, helping them take home the win.

Lees-McRae travels to Limestone on Monday, Jan. 18 for their next game, while Coker host Anderson also on Monday. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tip-offs.
