Hartsville, S.C. - A 12-0 run by the Coker College to start the second half gave the Cobras the momentum needed to pick up a 63-53 win over the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Monday night in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action. The win improves the Cobras to 4-1 to start the year and moves them to 1-0 in the conference, while the Fleet fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Coker senior forward Mason Ambler (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied his third double-double in four games, with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) scored in double figures for the fourth straight game, as he netted 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in the game. Thomas Wright (Sydney, Australia) had eight points and eight rebounds and Delonte Doles (Roswell, Ga.) added nine points for the Cobras.

Brandon Wright led the Fleet with 18 points and five rebounds, with Marko Latinovic adding 12 points to the Fleet cause.

It was a tightly contested game with neither team willing to concede even the slightest bit through the first 20 minutes, as both teams entered the lock room deadlocked at 27 to end the half, but a quick 12-0 run by the Cobras to start the second half gave them the shift in momentum needed to bring home the win.

Coker returns to the floor after Thanksgiving when they will travel to Belmont Abbey for another Conference Carolinas showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
