ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University won its fifth game in its last six outings with an 89-72 dismantling of Coker in a Conference Carolinas game Monday night at the Abney Center.

Anderson, 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference, never trailed. The Trojans jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first nine minutes of the game, let Coker get within five points twice, then took off again in the final five minutes of the game.

The Trojans placed five players in double figures. Brandon Young led the way with 20 points. He was followed by Trey Britton with 19, Stephen Cobb with 14, Nick Trull with 12, and Jarret Johnson with 10.

Young, a sophomore from Belmont, N.C., was 12-for-14 from the line and handed out six of Anderson's 10 assists.

Britton, a sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., was 7-for-9 from the field and tied Cobb for game-high rebound honors with eight.

Cobb, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., was 5-for-6 from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc.

Johnson, a sophomore from Greensboro, N.C., provided the highlight of the game with a vicious dunk with 3:28 remaining.

Coker was led by Josh Poston with 21 points, JC Hafner with 13 points, Vatrick Thompson with 12 points, and Mason Ambler with 11 points.

A jumper by Thompson at the buzzer cut Anderson's halftime lead to 34-26.

Anderson shot 56 percent from the field and scored 55 points in the second half. The Trojans finished the game at 52 percent. Coker shot 42 percent from the field.

Anderson scored 25 points off 19 Coker turnovers.

Anderson led by double digits the final 8:27 of the game. The Trojans' lead reached 21 points twice in the final 1:45.

Anderson will play at Pfeiffer Thursday night, while Coker hosts Erskine.
