Hartsville, S.C. – Four Coker players scored in double figures to lead the Cobras to a 71-59 win over the St. Andrews nights, giving Coker their first Conference Carolinas victory of the season. Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach, SC) and Mason Ambler (Atlanta, GA) each had 15 points, with JC Hafner (Jefferson, MD) dropping in 12 points and Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, SC) adding 11 points.

Coker (5-6, 1-3 Conf. Carolinas) out shot St. Andrews (3-8, 1-4 Conf. Carolinas) 53.3 percent from the floor as compared to 45.8 percent, but where the Cobras benefited the most was at the charity stripe, as they shot a outstanding 80 percent, while the Knights were only able to shoot 50 percent from the free throw line.

With the exception of those few stat categories, it was a very evenly matched game, as the Knights led by four, 35-31 at the end of the first half, but a couple of key fouls and turnovers early in the second half, gave the Cobras just the opportunity they needed to tie the game and eventually take the lead for good.

Ambler was the Cobras leading rebounder with eight rebounds, while handing out four assists. Poston and Hafner each pulled down five rebounds and Lukas Varga (Pawley’s Island, SC) had a team high six assists.

Leading the Knights was the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, Joseph Gripper with a game high 23 points, going 9-for-12 from the field, while grabbing five rebounds. Zack Garst also chipped in nine points and had three rebounds for St. Andrews.

Coker and St. Andrews both return to the court on Saturday, with Coker hosting Pfeiffer and the Knights traveling to face Erskine. Both games will tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
