Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer defeated Coker 82-71 in CVAC men's basketball action Saturday night.  Pfeiffer improves to 14-8 overall and 8-7 in the CVAC, while Coker falls to 6-16 overall, and 3-13 in the CVAC.  DeMario Grier led Pfeiffer with 26 points and 9 rebounds.  Pfeiffer's defense was tough holding Coker to 42% shooting and forcing 25 turnovers.

Coker jumped out early taking a 12-6 lead after six minutes.

Pfeiffer tied the game at 14 on a Robert McGriff three-pointer with 13:30 to go.

Coker led for the rest of the half but a DeMario Grier three-pointer in the final seconds of the half brought the Falcons within one, 29-28, going into halftime.

Pfeiffer scored the first basket of the second half to take the lead.  A lead they would hold for all but one minute the rest of the game.

A DeMario Greir three-pointer gave Pfeifer a ten point advantage with 12:26 left.

Coker fought back and went up 65-64 but Pfeiffer came back to reclaim the lead on a Grier lay-up and they stretched it out over the final three minutes and won 82-71.

Grier led Pfeiffer with 26 points and 9 rebounds.  Tavares Cooper aded 18 points and 7 rebounds.  Logan Call scored 15 and Derek Moore ten.

Coker was led by Lukas Varga’s 23 points and four rebounds, while Jason Fulwood tallied 19 points, going 4-for-9 for beyond the arc.

Pfeiffer and Coker will return to action Monday with the Falcons traveling to St. Andrews Presbyterian College and the Cobras hosting Anderson University. Both tip-offs are scheduled for 7:30 pm.
