Hartsville, SC- If you haven’t been to a Coker College Men’s Basketball Game this season then you probably haven’t heard of the Cobras “Bomb Squad”. That’s right “Bomb Squad”; the Cobras have been led this season by a group of very talented shooters, who prefer to shoot “bombs” from three-point range and beyond.

 

The “Bomb Squad” is captained by senior Jason Fulwood, with his squadron partners; junior brother Ryan Fulwood and sophomores Ben Brim, Blake Terrell and Lukas Varga. Together the “Bomb Squad” who have shot so well from long range that this week when the national statistics for Division II basketball were released, Coker was ranked number one in the country in Three-Point Field Goals per Game, making an average of 12.5 three-pointers a game. The Cobras are also ranked second in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage, shooting 45.5 percent for beyond the arc, sinking 100 of 220 shots.

 

Individually, Brim is ranked 23rd in the country in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage, firing an astonishing 49.1 percent, while Jason Fulwood is ranked 30th, shooting 47.7 percent. Fulwood and Brim are also ranked in Three-Point Field Goals per Game; Fulwood is 11th, averaging 3.9 threes a game, while Brim is 23rd, making 3.4 per game.

 

The Cobras and the “Bomb Squad” are gearing up for their first game since December 11, as they the host the Queens University Royals in a Carolinas Virginia Athletics Conference showdown on Saturday, January 6, at 4:00 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium on the campus of Coker College. The women play first at 2:00 p.m., so come out and see the Cobras and check out some great college hoops action.
