CHARLESTON, SC – The tremendous trio of senior Donnell Covington, senior Dwayne Jackson, and junior Chris Moore combined to outscore Coker College 53-46, leading Buccaneers (4-3) to an 87-46 victory over the Cobras.  Moore scored 19 points while Jackson added 18 and Covington pitched in 17 points.

Charleston Southern’s defense set the tone in the first half only allowing 12 points on twenty percent shooting.  The Bucs held the Cobras scoreless for a combined 11:48, going on a 20-0 run to take a 26-point lead.

"I thought we had a much better start today," said CSU Head Coach Barcay Radebaugh. "We played much better defense against a tough team that does a good job of spreading the floor. We definitely got better today, which is our goal for the season. I am so proud of our guys. Marquise (Duvall) did a great job on the defensive side, Shelton (Carter) handled the ball very well without turning it over. Every one played very well."

Coker College (1-3) started hitting shots and was able to score in the second half scoring 34 points, connecting on 5-10 behind the arc.  The Bucs proved too much to handle though scoring 51 points in the second half behind the trio’s combined 30-second half points.

The Buccaneers held the Cobras to the second lowest point total of the season while only committing nine turnovers.  Moore accounted for eight assists in the game including an alley-oop to freshman Shawn Outen that brought the crowd to its feet.  Jackson led the way in rebounds for the Bucs with seven with Moore adding six.

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers are slated to play the College of Charleston Cougars on Thursday November 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum, while Coker prepares to take on conference foe Barton College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
