DUE WEST, S.C. --- Erskine shot 63 per cent from the floor and closed its regular season Saturday with a 65-52 CVAC victory over Coker.

Reed Long connected on five of six 3-pointers and led the Fleet with 18 points. T.J. Taylor and Craig Williams each scored 13. Jason Winecoff had eight first half points in leading Erskine to a 35-22 advantage at intermission.

Taylor Hukill had 15 points, Ryan Fulwood 12, and Johnny Jackson 11 for the Cobras. Thirteen of Coker’s 18 field goals were from behind the 3-point line. The Fleet took its biggest lead at 52-30 with 13:13 to play, but Coker went on a 16-3 run with a flurry of 3-pointers to pull within nine, 55-46, with 8:15 remaining. Erskine pulled away from there behind Long and Williams.

Three Erskine seniors played their final regular season game – center Lindo Sibankulu and forwards Jay Waring and Justin Welch. Sibankulu had six points and led Erskine with six rebounds. Waring scored three points.

Erskine closed the regular season 11-16 and finished eighth in the CVAC with an 8-12 record. The Fleet will open conference tournament action Monday at 7 p.m. by hosting the number nine finisher in the CVAC. Coker, which finished 6-20 overall and 5-15 in the CVAC, is the probable opponent.
