Thomasville, N.C.- Michael Pierce of Coker College (5-13 overall, 4-8 CVAC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) men’s basketball Player of the Week. 

Coker’s Michael Pierce (Whiteville, NC) lead the Cobras to a 2-1 record for the week and was the points leader in all three games.  In Coker’s 82-75 win versus Anderson University, Pierce recorded a career-high 34 points, combined with a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, as well as shooting a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line.  Pierce also had 10 rebounds during the game.  Pierce had another perfect game from three-point range in the 72-66 win against Lees-McRae going 3-for-3 and finishing the game with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Against Mount Olive, the senior was just one rebounds shy of a second double-double for the week scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds.  For the season, Pierce is averaging 13 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, good enough for second on the team in both categories.
