Coker Esports Defeats the University of Maine in Tespa Open Division

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University Esports Hearthstone team took on the University of Maine in week two of the Second Split of the Tespa Open Division, while the Overwatch team faced off against Campbellsville University on Thursday (Oct 22).

Coker played Campbellsville University in NACE Overwatch action and the match started at Nepal. Coker started off strong by winning the first 2 rounds to win the map. The second map was Junkertown, and Campbellsville started it by pushing the payload through the map. Coker was unable to match them as they got stopped just short of the second point. Map three was King's Row, and Campbellsville kept their momentum by pushing the payload through the map with four minutes and thirty seconds left on the clock. Coker was able to match them this time but it took their entire time bank to do so. This meant that Campbellsville only needed to get the first tick of the first point, and they were able to so in a little over a minute. Map four was Hanamura, and Coker was able to resist Campbellsville long enough to force them to use their entire time bank. Unfortunately, Coker was unable to match them, and Campbellsville was able to win the map and the match 3-1.

Coker brought Face Hunter, Resurrect Priest, and Libram Paladin, while Maine brought Bomb Warrior, Soul Demon Hunter, and Secret Rogue. The first game was Coker's Paladin versus Maine's Bomb Warrior. While Maine was able to control the board of turns, Coker was able to continuously put minions on the board to win game one. Game two was Coker's Priest versus Maine's Warrior. Coker was able to survive until Maine was forced into fatigue, but there were too many bomb's in their own deck, and Maine won the second match. Game three was Coker's Priest versus Maine's Rogue. Maine was able to get multiple free secrets throughout the game, but Coker was able to control the board to win game three. Game four was Coker's Hunter versus Maine's Rogue, and Coker was able to find lethal by turn eight to win the match 3-1.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 24) when they take on Henderson State in a Peach Belt Conference Overwatch match. Game time is slated for 3:00 P.M.
