Game 1

Wise, VA- In a matchup between Coker and UVA-Wise on March 16, 2024, UVA-Wise came out on top with a 4-2 victory. The game saw strong performances from both teams, but ultimately UVA-Wise secured the win.


The scoring started in the first inning when UVA Wise's Nick Badgett hit a home run to left field, giving his team an early 1-0 lead. The score remained close throughout the game, with UVA-Wise adding to their lead in the fifth inning with a single from DJ Dickson that brought Badgett home.

The UVA-Wise baseball team secured a 3-0 victory over Coker in game 2. The win improved UVA-Wise's record to 9-16 overall and 6-5 in the SAC, while Coker now has a record of 15-10 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

The game was a pitching duel, with UVA Wise's Daniel Kanagy earning the win after tossing 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Braden Hamilton and Spencer Powell combined to pitch the final 2 innings to secure the shutout, with Powell earning the save.

Offensively, UVA-Wise was led by Morgan Miller, who had 2 RBIs on a single in the 4th inning. Jeb Hurst also contributed with an RBI triple in the 5th inning. DJ Dickson and Nick Badgett each scored a run for UVA Wise.

Conversely, Coker had a hard time getting their offense going, managing just 3 hits in the game. Garrett Dunn took the loss on the mound after giving up 2 runs in 4 innings of work.
