Coker Dominates Belmont Abbey in Season Opener

Hartsville, SC- In the season opener for both teams, Coker University put on an impressive display of baseball, defeating Belmont Abbey with a final score of 8-2. Coker's strong pitching and timely hitting proved to be the difference in the game.


Coker's starting pitcher, Aaron Diaz, had a stellar performance on the mound, going six innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Diaz showcased his control, not issuing a single walk and striking out three batters. Landon Reeves and Tyler Satterley came in relief to close out the game, combining for two scoreless innings.


Coker's offense came alive in the second inning, scoring three runs to take an early lead. Alex Lazar's single to right field drove in two runs, while Hunter Poole's single brought in another run. Kody Hanna had a standout performance, driving in four runs, including a three-run double in the eighth inning that put the game out of reach for Belmont Abbey. Cobras finished the night with 9 hits 8 RBIs, and 5 steals throughout the game.
