Coker Baseball Drops Doubleheader Versus Seton Hill

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker University baseball team lost their doubleheader against the Seton Hill University Griffins on Saturday (Feb. 15), losing 7-2 and 10-1.

Game One

The Cobras entered Saturday's game coming off winning last weekend's series versus Alderson Broaddus, taking three of the four games. Phill Griffor continued his great season at the plate in game one, totaling three hits and an RBI. For the season, he leads the Cobras with 15 base hits. Grant Thompson, Brandon Stone, and Harrison Morris also finished with two hits each.

Tanner Wofford struck out over the course of six innings. However, the Griffins received a quality start from Jared Kollar, as he struck out 10 Cobras through six innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning, AJ Vonderschmidt singled to left field to score Morris, sparking a Coker rally. But Seton Hill held on for the 7-2 win.

Game Two

The Griffins carried over the game one momentum into game two. Seton Hill tallied three home runs, scoring 10 runs total. Phill Griffor, AJ Vonderschmidt, and Zac Capaldi each got hits at the plate, but Seton Hill was able to cruise to victory thanks to another great team pitching performance.
