AUSTIN, Texas - Coker baseball player Connor Cleary has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Third-Team, the organization announced today. The Google Cloud Academic All-America teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Twenty of the 33 members on the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Baseball teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with nine student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA.

Cleary, a native of Nicholasville, Ky., played and started in 39 games for the Navy and Gold this past season. The Coker first baseman led the team in on base percentage (.447) and finished second on Coker's squad in walks, drawing 24. Additionally, Clearly was fourth on the team in runs (25) and batting average (.322). Furthermore, Cleary completed the season with 25 runs, 39 hits, four doubles, one triple, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases.

Perhaps what was even more impressive than his performance on the field, was his success in the classroom. Cleary, a criminology major, finished his senior year with an impressive 3.93 cumulative GPA. He is the son of Jody and Johnnie Cleary.

"Connor is a great representative of what a student-athlete is all about at Coker," said Coker head baseball coach, Luke Harrigan. "Not only did he have a great year on the field, but more importantly he truly understands the balance between his academics and playing a sport, while earning his degree. It is a great honor for Connor and I'm proud of him for achieving this honor."
