Coker Drops Series Opener to Trojans

ANDERSON, S.C.- The Coker College baseball team took on the Anderson University Trojans in a South Atlantic Conference matchup on Friday night, March 6, at Memorial Stadium in Anderson, S.C.  The Cobras fell to Anderson by a score of 8-2. 

In the top of the eighth inning and with runners in scoring position, Matt Swiderski sent a line drive back up the middle to put the Cobras (9-9) on the board. With one out, Bryson Conner drew a walk and Brooks Estrada followed with a double down the left field line. With two outs Thomas Lopez also drew a walk to load the bases for Swiderski. The left-handed Swiderski then roped the two-run single up the middle.

Swiderski and Estrada both picked up two hits on the night.  

After taking over for Michael DeVecchio (3-2) Jake Moore worked the final 3.1 innings for Coker, allowing one run (earned) on three hits and struck out four.

The Navy and Gold will take on the Trojans (6-12) on Saturday, March 10 in a doubleheader. Saturday's first game (nine-innings) is scheduled for a 11:00 a.m. start.
