Cobras Drop Twinbill at UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C.- Coker baseball dropped its doubleheader with UNC Pembroke on Saturday (Apr. 25).

Coker scored first in the first game after AJ Strand was hit by a pitch to lead off the game. Bryson Conner followed up by knocking his third triple of the year right center with Strnad racing around the bases to open the scoring.

Conner led the offense with two hits, while Tanner Crosby, Robert Lybrand, Brooks Estrada and Clint Allen each recorded one. Matt Ticer took the loss on the hill, while Brady Shuey, Jackson Back and Jake Moore all made relief appearances. 

In game two, Coker was able to score in the sixth when the inning started with back-to-back walks by Allen and Strnad. Conner singled to right field to load the bases with no one out, before Darius Coldiron reached on a fielder's choice hit to shortstop allowing Allen to score.

Conner chalked up two more hits in the nightcap, while Lybrand and Allen each had one. Forrest Arnold (5-3) took the loss in the second game, while Moore, Larry Parker, Joey Carpenter and Jon Koski all made apperances.

Coker is back at home on Sunday (Apr. 26) for Senior Day and a doubleheader with UNC Pembroke. First pitch on Sunday is set for 10:00 a.m. at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. Both games will be seven-inning games. Tickets for the games are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
