Late Rally Sinks Cobras at North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball fell at North Greenville in non-conference action 7-5 on Wednesday (Apr. 4). 

Coker struck twice in the top of the first on Thomas Lopez's fourth dinger of the year, before the Crusaders cut the lead in half in their half of the inning.

Coker plated one run in each of the next three innings, starting with an RBI groundout from Lopez in the second. Scott Burnley collected a sacrifice fly in the third that scored Bryson Conner, while a Darius Coldiron RBI single in the fourth scored Clint Allen. North Greenville scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to cut Coker's lead to 5-4, before taking the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Coldiron led the Navy and Gold offensively, going 4-5 in the game and driving in one run. Aj Strnad went 2-4 and scored a run, while Lopez, Conner and Allen each chipped in one hit.

Cody Brown got the start on the bump for the Cobras, allowing one earned run on two hits through two innings. The junior also issued one walk and recorded one strikeout. Brooks Estrada fired two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and four walks while punching out two. Jake Moore made the lengthiest appearance of the day for Coker, going 3.0 innings. The right-hander surrendered four runs, three earned on five hits while walking and striking out two apiece. Jon Koski took the loss in the contest, allowing two earned runs on three hits in the eighth inning. The fireballer issued one walk in his relief appearance. 

The Cobras (19-14, 9-9 SAC) return to conference play this weekend (Apr. 7-8) when they travel to Newberry for a three-game series. First pitch for Friday's series opener is slated for 6:00 p.m.
