Cobras Host Trojans in Weekend SAC Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball hosts Anderson University in a key South Atlantic Conference series this weekend (Apr. 1-Apr. 2) Video and live stats for all three games will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker swept their midweek doubleheader from Claflin on Wednesday (Mar. 29) 16-4 and 12-4 respectively.

On the season, Jon Koski's team-high .350 batting average leads the Cobras, the mark is 21st individually in the conference. Thomas Lopez is second on the team with a .344 batting average, which is 24th in the conference. On the mound, Coker has several pitchers who are amongst the league's best in several categories. Forrest Arnold's 3.42 earned run average is eighth in the league, while his 50.0 innings total is tied for third in the conference. Griffin Hollifield is also second in the SAC in saves with five.

The Trojans come into the matchup off of a 9-4 loss to Erskine on Tuesday (Mar. 28). On the year, Anderson is 8-24 overall and 4-11 within the South Atlantic Conference. Offensively, they are led by William Thomas, whose .379 batting average is 12th in the league. 

First pitch on Saturday is set for 12:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. Saturday is a doubleheader starting with a nine-inning game at noon followed by a seven-inning game at 3:00 p.m. Sunday will be a nine-inning game starting at noon. Tickets for the games are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
