Cobras Host Claflin for Wednesday Matinee

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball will host the Claflin University Panthers in non-conference action on Wednesday (Feb. 15). Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off a series loss to No. 22 UIndy, where the Cobras dropped the series two games to one. Coker was able to knock off the nationally-ranked Greyhounds on Saturday (Feb. 11) by a score of 9-4.

The Cobras (4-4) come into the matchup being led offensively by senior outfielder AJ Strnad. Strnad is hitting a whopping .414, mashing three doubles, one long ball and scoring seven runs. On the defensive end, the Cobras have three pitchers with earned run averages under 3.00. Brady Shuey owns a 2.08 ERA, Griffin Hollifield a 2.16 mark and Will Sutton brings a 2.79 mark into the matchup. Among qualified pitchers, Hollifield's 2.16 is 10th in the South Atlantic Conference, while Sutton's 2.79 ERA is 15th-best in the league.

The Panthers come into the game 1-7 on the year. Rashad Webster has played and started all eight games, and leads the team with a .360 batting average. Webster has knocked five doubles and driven in four runs so far on the year.

First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
