HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball's Will Sutton was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District first team for District 3.

District 3 for Division II is comprised of student-athletes from the Peach Belt Conference, Conference Carolinas and the South Atlantic Conference.

As a first-team selection, Sutton automatically advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

"I am very proud of Will for this achievement," said head coach Dave Schmotzer. "He's a bulldog on the field and in the classroom and is one that never gives up once he sets his mind to something,".

The all-district teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and are intended to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Teams are broken down into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

Sutton on the year pitched his way to a 3-4 record and a 4.66 earned run average in 46.1 innings. He made 19 appearances on the year, including six starts. The lefty allowed 24 earned runs on 46 hits, with 19 walks and 31 strikeouts. He also collected one save on the season.

The junior Sanford, Fla. native has a 3.98 grade point average majoring in biology and pre-med. He is the son of Nancy and Bill Sutton.
