Cobras Host Claflin in Non-conference Midweek Action

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball hosts Claflin on Wednesday (April 6) in non-conference action.

The Cobras and Panthers met back on Mar. 30 where Coker came out victorious 9-4. In total, four Cobras recorded multi-hit games in the win. Will Winslow and Thomas Lopez each went 2-5 while Charlie Burgiueres and Ryan Wayne both went 3-4 and knocked in three runs apiece. Wayne also mashed his third homer of the year in the game. Jake Moore (1-0) collected his first collegiate win in the contest, firing one scoreless inning and striking out one. Moore was one of nine Cobra pitchers used in the win. Forrest Arnold and Anthony Scaccia each tossed one inning apiece before Moore's entry, while he was relieved by appearances from Will Sutton, Ben Brown, Thane Clark, Kenny Barry, Joey Carpenter and JT Whritner.

Coker on the year is 22-14 and 8-7 in South Atlantic Conference play. Will Winslow leads the offense with a .371 average, tied for 12th in the conference. Dallas Baldwin (3-3) owns a 2.98 earned run average, good for fourth in the conference.

Claflin comes into the matchup with a 15-20 overall record and an 8-3 mark in the SIAC. Offensively they are led by Reginald Rogers who is hitting .330 on the year.

First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
