Coker Falls Short Against Mars Hill 2-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Coker Cobras fell short against the Mars Hill Lions 2-1 in South Atlantic Conference baseball action on Monday (Apr. 13).

Mars Hill was able to push a run across in the both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Cobras cut the lead to just one with an RBI double by Joe Diaz in the top of the sixth, but the Lions held on the for the 2-1 win in seven innings.

Will Sutton (0-2) suffered the loss. He threw six strong innings for the Cobras allowing just two runs, while scattering seven hits and striking out two.

Diaz drove in Coker's only run on a double, while Will Winslow and Tyler Osik were both 2-for-3. Winslow also scored a run and Bryson Conner finished the day 1-for-3 with a double.

Game two of the SAC doubleheader with Mars Hill was cancelled due to rain.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 14) with another road game at Voorhees College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Denmark, S.C.
