Coker Baseball Picks Up 5-1 Victory over Knights

LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Coker College baseball team scored four runs in the top half of the sixth inning to take home a 5-1 road victory over the St. Andrews University Knights on Wednesday (Mar. 3).

The Cobras would strike first in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI groundout by outfielder Miguel Frias that scored Bryson Conner to take a 1-0 lead. Frias would proceed to plate two more runs in the sixth inning with a two-run single. Sammy Song and Dustin Russell each drove in an RBI in the sixth inning to give Coker the eventual 5-1 victory. 

On the mound for the Navy and Yellow, Dallas Baldwin (1-2) sealed the victory throwing two scoreless innings. 

Frias finished the game going 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Song went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Russell went 1-for-3 with an RBI. 

The Cobras will be back in action Friday (Mar. 6) for game one of a South Atlantic Conference three-game series against the Anderson University Trojans. Friday's game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
