Cobras to Host No. 20 Braves in Non-Conference Tilt

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – On Tuesday (April 8) the Coker Cobra baseball team will play host to the nationally ranked No. 20 Braves of UNC Pembroke in a non-conference game. Live coverage of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras will put their 13-3 record at home on the line when they take the field. They are also 10-2 against non-conference opponents this season. When taking on UNCP, the Cobras have won three of the last five meetings.

Ernie Kirkwood continues to be Coker's offensive catalyst. A team leader in every offensive category, the senior outfielder is batting .357 with 35 RBIs, 10 doubles, six triples, a home run and 13 stolen bases.

Lefty Adam Webb (4-0) is likely to get the nod on the hill against the Braves. The freshman has a 3.18 ERA with 15 punch-outs in 22.2 innings of work this season.

No. 20 UNCP comes to Hartsville sporting a 27-11 record. The Braves took two of three from the Wingate Bulldogs in their most recent series. Junior Jordan Edgerton leads the Braves at the plate. He is batting .407 with 19 doubles, five homers and 39 RBIs. On the mound, UNCP will likely look to left-hander Jordan DeLoach (5-0). The junior has a 4.35 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 41.1 innings on the hill.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. They are $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
