Dave Schmotzer Earns 600th Victory at Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College baseball team's 28-0 victory over Claflin University on Tuesday (Mar. 11) not only marked the team's 12th victory of the season, it also marked another coaching milestone for head coach Dave Schmotzer. With the win, Schmotzer earned his 600th victory at Coker.

The Cobra skipper now holds a record of 600-451-2 in 22 seasons of leading the Navy and Yellow. Included in those 600 victories are seven conference championships, two region championships and two trips to the College World Series.

Prior to coming to Coker, Schmotzer was the head coach at Union College in Kentucky for three seasons, and during his 25-year tenure he has amassed a career record of 685-491-2.

Coach Schmotzer and the Cobras will look to add to his win total this weekend when they host the Carson-Newman Eagles in a three-game South Atlantic Conference series on Friday (Mar. 14) and Saturday (Mar. 15). First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday.
