Coker Baseball Ready for the NCAA Tournament

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 4 seed Coker Cobras will open up play at the 2013 NCAA Division II Southeast Region Baseball Tournament on Thursday (May 16) against the No. 3 Armstrong Pirates. Live coverage of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The 2013 Division II NCAA Southeast Region Tournament is hosted by Mount Olive College and will be held Thursday (May 16) through Sunday (May 19) at Scarborough Field.

The six-team double elimination tournament features the No. 1 seed and host Mount Olive College, the No. 2 seed USC Aiken, the No. 5 seed Georgia College and the No. 6 seed Lincoln Memorial.

Games are scheduled for 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. each of the first three days of the tournament and the championship game is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. A second game could be played Sunday if necessary.

Admission to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament is $10 per day for adults. Children 12-and-under will be admitted for $5. All-session passes are available for $30 for adults. An all-session pass for children 12-and-under is available for $15.

The winner of the double-elimination NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II National Finals May 25-June 1 at the USA National Training Center in Cary, N.C.

The No. 4 seed Cobras (34-14) will take on the No. 3 seed Armstrong (31-15) in the opening game of the tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m. Armstrong is currently ranked No. 14 in two different national polls, while Coker is No. 16 in one poll (CBL) and No. 29 in another (CBN).

This will be the first ever meeting between the Cobras and the Pirates. Coker captured the 2013 Conference Carolinas Tournament championship and earned the automatic bid to the tournament. Armstrong received one of three at-large bids to the tournament.

The winner of the game between Coker and Armstrong will advance to face the winner of the game between the No. 2 seed USC Aiken and the No. 5 seed Georgia College on Friday at 7 p.m. The loser will have to take on the winner of the game between the No. 1 seed Mount Olive and the No. 6 seed Lincoln Memorial on Friday at 3 p.m.
