Coker Falls to King 7-2 in Conference Tourney

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The No. 2 seed Coker Cobras suffered a 7-2 loss to the No. 3 seed King Tornado on Friday (Apr. 26) in the winner's bracket game of the 2013 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament.

The loss drops the Cobras to an elimination game against the No. 6 seed Erskine on Saturday (Apr. 27) at 3 p.m.

A solo homer in the first inning and a six-run third inning provided all the scoring the Tornado would need to take home the victory. Coker's runs came from an RBI single by Keith Wolf in the third and a sacrifice fly by Shea Bell in the ninth.

Tyler Witzel (7-5) was tagged with the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings on the hill.

Wolf was the only Cobra with multiple hits and an RBI. Bell drove in Coker's other run, while Brinley Griffin, Fico Kondla, T.J. Giczkowski and Frank Suarez each collected a hit.

The winner of game between Erskine and Coker will advance to play the loser of the game between the No. 1 seed Mount Olive and the No. 3 seed King at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
