Coker Falls to No. 4 Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Coker Cobras suffered a disappointing 16-1 loss to nationally ranked No. 4 Mount Olive on Friday (Mar. 22) night in Conference Carolinas baseball action.  The loss drops the Cobras to 18-9 overall and 8-5 in conference play.

Zach Loraine drove home Justin Blechle in the top of the first inning, giving Coker a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Trojans posted 16 unanswered runs over the next eight innings to capture the 16-1 victory.

Tyler Witzel (5-3) was tagged with the loss, going 2.2 innings allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits with a strikeout.

Blechle was the only Cobra with multiple hits. He finished the night 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Fico Kondla and T.J. Giczkowski each hit doubles as well and Loraine drove in Coker's lone run.

The Cobras and the Trojans will complete their three-game series with a double-header on Saturday (Mar. 23) beginning at noon at Mount Olive's Scarborough Field.
