Coker Splits Double-Header with Pfeiffer, Takes Series 2-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobras spilt their Conference Carolinas double-header with the Pfeiffer Falcons on Saturday (Mar. 16), winning the first game 4-1, and losing the second 7-5. With the win the Cobras won the series, taking two of three from the Falcons, moving to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

In game one, the Cobras scored three runs in the first and another in the third, while holding the Falcons scoreless for six innings to earn the 4-1 win. 

Dan Meyer (2-2) picked up the win on the mound going 4.2 innings allowing just one run on four hits with four strikeouts. Zach Loraine (8) got the save, tossing an inning and two-thirds of scoreless baseball.

Brinley Griffin was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Ernie Kirkwood and Frank Suarez each had multiple hits.

The second game of the afternoon saw Coker take an early 4-0 lead, but Pfeiffer scored seven runs in over the final three innings to take home the 7-5 victory.

Loraine (1-1) suffered the loss allowing three runs on three hits in an inning and a third of work.

Fico Kondla had two hits including a double with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Cobras at the plate in game two, while Suarez was 1-for-2 with an RBI. T.J. Giczkowski had three hits with a run scored and Keith Wolf had a pair of hits. Justin Blechle also drove in a run for Coker.

Coker will return to the field on Tuesday (Mar. 19) for a home game against West Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
