Cobras Blow Past the Tornado 9-2

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Coker baseball team picked up a 9-2 win over King University in the rubber game of its Conference Carolinas series on Sunday (Mar. 10). With the victory the Cobras won the series 2-1, and improved to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in league play.

The Cobras used a complete team effort to capture the win, as the hitters pounded out nine runs on 15 hits, while the pitching staff held the Tornado to just two runs on nine hits.

Andrew Goot (3-0) earned his third victory of the year, while Zach Loraine (6) picked up his sixth save.

Frank Suarez paced the Cobras at the plate going 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Fico Kondla was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run. Loraine was also 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI.

Coker returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 12) in a non-conference game at Benedict College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
