Ninth Inning Heroics Lift Cobras to Victory

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - T.J. Sinnott drove home T.J. Giczkowski with one out in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Cobra baseball team a 10-9 victory over the St. Augustine's University Falcons on Wednesday (Feb. 6) afternoon. The win improves the Cobras to 5-1 on the year.

Coker held a 4-1 advantage after the first inning; another run in the second made it 5-1. The Falcons plated four runs of their own in the third to tie the game. The Cobras regained the lead with two runs in the fourth, but St. Aug's scored a run in the fifth and another in the top half of the sixth, tying the game at seven. The Cobras took a one run lead in the bottom half of the sixth and then they added an insurance run, taking a 9-7 lead into the ninth. The Falcons once again found a way to score two runs and tie the game heading to the bottom of the ninth. It was then that Sinnott drove home Giczkowski with a sacrifice fly, giving Coker the 10-9 win.

Seth Rainey (1-0) got the win with two-thirds of an inning of work. He allowed no runs and no hits with a strikeout.

At the plate Fico Kondla was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Keith Wolf was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Zach Loraine had a triple with an RBI and Brinley Griffin drove in a run.
