Coker Comes from Behind to Split Twinbill with NGU

TIGERVILLE, S.C.- The Coker baseball team scored 12 runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the North Greenville Crusaders 13-7 in game one of their Conference Carolina's doubleheader on Saturday. The Cobras and the Crusaders split the twinbill, with North Greenville winning game two, 2-0.


Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.) and Brinley Griffin (Port St. John, Fla.) led the offensive onslaught in game one. They drove in a combined five runs with a double each. Lucas Britt (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Taylor Martin (San Jose, Calif.) had a pair of hits and drove in a run each for the Cobras as well.


Seth Rainey (Rock Hill, S.C.) (2-0) earned the win in relief. He allowed just one hit in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning on the mound.


In game two, Coker was held scoreless, as Griffin, Martin and Fico Kondla (Miami, Fla.) each had a hit.


Dan Meyer (Seaford, N.Y.) (3-4) was saddled with the loss. He gave up two runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts in six innings of work.


The Cobras and the Crusaders will complete their three-game series with a single game on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
