Coker Sweeps Conference Carolinas Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Coker baseball team swept the Conference Carolinas Player and Pitcher of the Week honors during week four of the 2012 season. Junior centerfielder Chad Nader (Rock Hill, S.C.) received Player of the Week honors, while sophomore right-hander Andrew Goot (Oldsmar, Fla.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

Nader had an outstanding week at the plate as he helped lead the Cobras to a perfect 4-0 week. Nader hit a blistering .529 for the week with a triple, three RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases. A key component in Coker's three-game sweep of Limestone, Nader had seven of his nine hits against the Saints, scoring four of Coker's 17 runs.

Goot was a perfect 2-0 this week earning not only a mid-week win, but a complete game Conference Carolinas win as well. Goot started the week by going seven innings allowing just one run with six strikeouts in the Cobras 9-1 win over Claflin. He then finished the week by going the distance in Coker's 6-2 win over Limestone. He threw a spectacular nine innings against the Saints, allowing two runs on five hits with eight punch-outs. Goot's win against Limestone gave Coker a three-game sweep of the Saints.
