HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Junior right-hander Sean Tracy (Farmingville, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing just one run, as he led the Coker Cobras to a 3-1 win over Limestone College on Sunday afternoon in Conference Carolinas baseball action. The win gives Coker the series victory (2-1) and improves the Cobras to 13-21 overall and 5-10 in conference play. The Saints fall to 20-13 overall and 8-6 in the conference.

The Saints got on the board early thanks to an RBI single Micah Robinson that drove in Josh Troutman, who had got the offense started with a triple into right field, in the top of the first inning. However, that would be the only time Tracy would allow the Saints to score.

The Cobras answered Limestone’s run with two of their own in the bottom of the first inning. The first run came by way of a bases loaded grounder to the second baseman by Matt Ammons (Chester, S.C.) that scored Zach Barnes (Monticello, Ind.). Unfortunately for the Saints the second Coker run came on the same play as Limestone’s short stop sent his double play throw sailing over first base into the Coker dugout. The throwing error allowed Ammons to advance to second and plated Daniel Hiatt (Elwood, Ind.) from third base.

The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth when the Cobras added an insurance run by way of a bases loaded sac fly from Tyler Witzel (Melbourne, Fla.) that scored Jake Fraizer (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.).

The rest of the game belonged to Tracy (2-5) on the mound. He was spectacular as he held the Saints scoreless for eight innings, scattering seven hits and striking out six along the way.

Matt Crisp (2-1) suffered the loss. He went six innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits with four strikeouts.

Witzel was the Cobras leading hitter on the day with a pair of hits and an RBI, while Fraizer, Barnes and Hiatt each had a hit with a run scored and Nick Fuoco (Palm Bay, Fla.) also added a hit.

For the Saints, Troutman was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, while Chad Balderman had two hits and Robinson drove in a run.

The series victory is Coker’s second of the year, while the series loss is Limestone’s first of the season.

The Cobras will be back in action on Thursday, March 30 when they travel to Augusta, Georgia to take on Paine College in a non-conference game starting at 2:00 p.m.
