ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Cobra baseball team took care of the Claflin Panthers on Tuesday afternoon with a 15-4 non-conference road win. The win improves Coker to 18-18 on the season, while Claflin falls to 12-15 overall.

Matt Long (Florence, S.C.) (9-3) picked up the win going two innings, allowing just one hit and no runs. The Cobras also had good performances on the mound from Tyler Witzel (West Melbourne, Fla.) and Haddon Childs (Conway, S.C.) who combined for three innings of scoreless and hitless baseball.

Daniel Hiatt (Elwood, Ind.) led the Cobras at the plate, going 4-for-6 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored, while Trey Lynch (Florence, S.C.) had three hits including a double with an RBI and two runs scored. Matt Ammons (Chester, S.C.) and Matthew Kearnes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) each had a pair of doubles, with Ammons driving in three runs and scoring one and Kearnes scoring three. Trevin Taber (Chesnee, S.C.) and Jordan Buenting (Ankeny, Iowa) also had two hits apiece for the Cobras, with Taber driving home two runs and Buenting driving in one. Brian Luchsinger (Farmingville, N.Y.) also drove in two runs with a double for Coker.

The Cobras return to action over the weekend, when they host Anderson University in their final Conference Carolinas series of the regular season. Games one and two will be played on Friday with the double-header starting at noon, with game three starting at noon on Saturday.
