MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Myles Pearl had a grand slam in a five RBI day as Pfeiffer University rolled to a 16-10 Conference Carolinas baseball victory over Coker College in the rubber game of the weekend series on Sunday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field. The Falcons scored in each of the first six innings improving to 8-10 overall, 5-4 in league play. The Cobras drop their second-straight falling to 10-6, 4-5.

Pfeiffer used a pair of two-run homers in the first couple of frames jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Pearl started the first with a leadoff walk and trotted around on Preston Lyon’s blast to left. An inning later, Josh Strickland began the stanza with a single to center, later scoring on J.T. Pope’s bomb down the left-field line.

Coker cut the deficit in half during the third as Brinley Griffin scored an unearned run from third on a wild pitch. The Falcons took control with a five-run third that began with one of two Cobra errors in the inning. Strickland brought home the first run with a base hit to right before Pope plated Eric Shoemaker with his shot back up the box. Jesse Dunn and Pearl picked up the other runs batted in as the fifth run come across on the second Coker miscue.

Pfeiffer added two in the fourth on a Strickland double and Carlos Badillo sacrifice fly before Shoemaker got in on the act again by plating Lyon with his single to right in the fifth. Coker put three on the board in the sixth with a leadoff blast by Jordan Buenting and two-run shot to center by Drew Hardee, but Pearl would deliver the money ball in the home half just minutes later.

Pope began the inning with a hit-by-pitch before back-to-back walks to Dunn and Badillo loaded the bases for Pearl. Pearl connected on a 3-1 pitch and kept it just inside the right-field foul pole putting the Falcons 11. The Cobras would add two in the seventh on another Buenting two-run round tripper to left and three in the eighth on RBI by Griffin, Buenting and a wild pitch to conclude the afternoon’s scoring.

Behind Myles, Pope finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored while Strickland also rounded out with three hits and two RBI. Coker was led by Buenting’s two home runs and four RBI.

Coker returns to action on Tuesday as the Cobras travel to Florence, S.C. to take on cross-town rival Francis Marion University. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
