Hartsville, S.C. – Coker completed their three game sweep of Clarion University on Saturday afternoon with an 11-7 win. The wins improve Coker 13-9 on the year, while Clarion falls to 1-8 on the season.

Coker jumped out early with two runs in the first, but the Golden Eagles answered with three runs in the top of the second. The Cobras were not about to be out done and plated three runs of their own in the bottom half of the second and never looked back. Coker went on to score three runs in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth and one in the eighth, while Clarion got a run back in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth for the eventual 11-7 Coker win.

Michael Rogers (Florence, SC) (4-0) stayed perfect with his fourth win of the year, going two innings, allowing three runs on three hits, with a strikeout, while Clarion’s Eric Panko took the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings on the mound.

Cobra freshman, Brinley Griffin (Port St. Jon, FL) led the offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs, and three runs scored, while Brian Luchsinger (Farmingville, NY) was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, pair of runs scored and two stolen bases. Also collecting multiple hits, where BK Harfst (Arvada, CO) with a pair of doubles, Karl Ankersen (Mt. Pleasant, SC) and Ricky Deleandro (Mentor, OH) each with two hits and an RBI and Kyle Walker (Centralia, IL) also had two hits.

For Clarion, Adam Foltz had two hits, including a home run, with two RBIs and a run scored, while Andrew Petruska was 2-for-3 with a double. Ken Morgan was 1-for-1 with a two run homer and two runs scored.

Coker will now prepare to travel to Augusta, Ga. on Wednesday when they face Paine College.
