WILSON, NC -- Senior Weston Curles threw six perfect innings and finished with a three-hitter over eight innings Thursday afternoon as nationally No. 1-ranked Mount Olive crushed Coker 11-0 in the Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament in historic Fleming Stadium.

The Trojans improved to 41-4 overall and will play at 1 p.m. Friday in Fleming against the winner of Barton-Anderson. Coker, 1-1 in the double-elimination event, is 18-30 and will play either Erskine or Belmont Abbey at 1 p.m. Friday at Barton's Nixon Field. Mount Olive rapped 14 hits, including a 3-for-5 outing by shortstop David Cooper and two hits apiece from Alex Vertcnik, Jason Sherrer and Josh Harrison. Curles, a sixth-year senior, struck out four walked none and allowed three hits.

Coker broke up his perfect game with a bunt single by Trey Linch. Mount Olive opened the scoring in the second inning on a triple by Josh Harrison and a single by Dylan Holton. The Trojans added two runs in the third when Jesse Lancaster walked and Vertcnik hit a towering homer to right-center field. Cooper opened the Mount Olive 5th with a triple, Vertcnik walked and Sherrer singled in a run. Sherrer drove in a run with a groundout, then Lovett and Harrison each tripled in a run for a 10-0 lead.

The Trojans got their final run in the eighth inning when Lancaster singled, stole second and scored on a Tyler Smith single. Craig Beasley pitched the final inning for the Trojans. He allowed no hits and struck out one. Brad Boob (3-10) was the losing pitcher in 5 1/3 innings. He allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits.
