Hartsville, S.C. - With two outs in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on second, Trey Lynch (Florence, SC) drove a single through the left side of the infield, bringing Scott Amann (New Athens, IL) around third and sliding safely into home, giving the Coker Cobras a 4-3 victory over Mars Hill College on Tuesday, in collegiate baseball. The win snaps the Cobras four game losing streak and improves Coker to 11-19 overall, while the Lions of Mars Hill fall to 17-13 overall.

Mars Hill was the first to strike, as Brian Williams drove the first pitch he saw in the game, 430 feet over the center field fence, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Coker claimed their first lead of the game in the fourth, as BK Harfst (Arvada, CO) and Will Poole (Pelion, SC) drove home three Cobra runs. Harfst had an RBI single, while Poole brought home two with a two RBI double.

The Lions narrowed the gap to just a run in the fifth, with a Brandon Savoca RBI double, for a 3-2 Coker lead. Things were all quite for the next two innings, until Matt Oleski brought home Williams with an RBI single in the top eighth for 3-3 tie.

Then came the Cobra heroics of the ninth, as Amann was the first to reach base with a leadoff single to right, followed by two strike Harfst sacrifice bunt. Then with two out, Lynch brought Amann around for the game winning run.

Mikael Owens (Columbia, SC) (3-2) earned the win on the mound, coming on in relief, tossing an inning and a third, allowing just one hit.

Tyler Greene took the loss for Mars Hill, allowing one run on two hits in an inning of work.

At the plate, Amann was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Poole was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Harfst was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Lynch was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

For Mars Hill, Williams was 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored, while Savoca was also 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Austin Boehme was also 2-for-4 and Oleski was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Coker and Mars Hill complete their two game series on Wednesday, at Tom J. New Field at Coker College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
